Nowadays, many high-end cars are automatic, easy to operate, and shifting gears are loved by successful people. However, the automatic gearbox is also in need of maintenance.
Mercedes-Benz's gearbox sump is made of iron, which is relatively durable and not easy to seep. The replacement of the transmission oil is also very simple, but since maintenance is not just a simple change of oil, there is a filter inside the gearbox. The internal structure can be seen by disassembling the bottom case.
After disassembling the bottom case, this is the filter in the middle, which needs to be replaced, because the gearbox wear will produce impurities and iron filings. If these things are filtered, it will easily block the oil circuit and get stuck in the solenoid valve.
This is a strainer. This is the case for general gearboxes. All oil must be filtered. Otherwise, impurities can damage the internal plunger solenoid valve and cause the vehicle to shift gears or drive. There is also a coupler on the gearbox that has a drain port that directly disassembles the oil. Install the filter to install the bottom case, clean it and clean it out and run it back to check whether it is oily. Generally speaking, it is recommended to replace the transmission oil for 6w km. Otherwise, the deterioration of the oil quality and the poor lubrication result will lead to the early wear of the gearbox.

Mercedes-Benz is one of the few manufacturers that insist on making their own gearboxes. The 2003 7G gearbox is comparable to the 2007 ZF ZF 8HP. The 9G-TRONIC gearbox is smaller and lighter than the 7G-TRONIC gearbox! This is because the 9G-TRONIC parts are more densely distributed, while the 9G-TRONIC torque converter is more Lightweight aluminum alloy, the transmission oil sump is also a very lightweight magnesium alloy. Another design goal of the 9G-TRONIC is to use as few planetary gears and shifting parts as possible while increasing the gear. Thanks to the smarter electronic control system, the 9G-TRONIC only needs 4 sets of planetary gears and 6 shifting parts to achieve 9 gears. The transmission also features three speed sensors to keep the transmission in the most efficient gear.
